About Giclees
The word giclee is an invented name for the process of making fine art prints from a digital source using ink-jet printing technology. The word is derived from a French word meaning "to squirt, spurt, or spray". Goldeneye Gallery giclee’s are made one at a time by the artist on the finest printers using ideal paper/ink combinations for each piece.
A company called Wilhelm Imaging Research has undertaken the task of testing and reporting the longevity of giclee prints made with specific printer/paper/ink combinations and has reported the methodologies and results on its website www.wilhelm-research.com. Goldeneye Gallery prints, when framed as described previously, will last 175 years without noticable change according to Wilhelm Research data.
Goldeneye artwork is guaranteed for life against any defect in materials or workmanship. If a problem develops, call us at (912) 239-9977 and we fix it. We want you to be delighted with Goldenye artwork!
About Goldeneye Editions
Most Goldeneye artwork is created in editions of 50 prints, each signed and numbered by the artist. This limited number of prints ensures a high value to the collector. As each edition sells out, the price of higher numbered prints rises, so that early collectors will achieve the best value.
Goldeneye’s large canvases are created with just 10 pieces in each edition. Since canvases are not displayed under glass, UV protection is achieved through a special spray coating. Our canvases are Wilhelm Research rated for over 100 years.
Goldeneye artwork is shipped to every state and all over the world. Collectors can be confident that their purchases will remain unique and retain value over the years.
Goldeneye will happily repurchase any piece from a sold-out edition at the price you paid plus 10%!
About Framed Art
At Goldeneye Gallery, we prefer to sell framed art for three important reasons. First, each of the images has been carefully matched to a frame selected by the artist to enhance the overall experience between the artwork and the viewer. Sometimes, this means that frames are hand-made from bare wood. This process, while time consuming, ensures that frame and artwork are truly one. Such pieces cost slightly more than those with manufactured molding.
The second reason is that we can ensure that archival materials and methods are used throughout the framing process. Acid free mats, UV protective glazing and archival mounting are three critical components of this process. We use costly museum grade OP-3 acrylic glazing for most framed art. UV protection, lightness and strengh are its primary attributes. However, don’t clean with Windex or any ammonia based product. A light dusting or a drop of dishwashing liquid mixed in a cup of water is all that is necessary.
Finally, our framing costs are far below those of other framers, saving you $$.
